Blue Microphones Snowflake
$70.00
Released May, 2008
The Pros:A huge improvement over a built-in laptop microphone. Collapses into an easy to transport box-like package. Built-in stand that can also act as a display clip.
The Cons:High price for the majority of consumers. Not very convenient compared to a built-in microphone. Heavy for its size.
The Blue Microphones Snowflake is a USB microphone designed to “sound like a million bucks.” Truthfully, the Snowflake is quite inferior to the Snowball in many ways—lack of omnidirectional recording being one of them—but the Snowflake features a much more portable design.

It can either rest on a tabletop or loosely hang over a laptop screen. Plus, its microphone capsule swivels 360 degrees on its base, and can be collapsed into a portable 3x2” block. As for its capabilities, the Snowflake is fixed in a mono-cardioid recording pattern best suited for audio sources placed no farther than an arm’s length away.
