Gibson EDS-1275

Introduced in 1958 by Gibson as a special-order custom instrument, the ED-1275 is easily the most famous double neck guitar to date.  Based on the Gibson SG, the ED-1275 features a 6 string neck and a 12 string neck.

  With two volume knobs, two tone control knobs, 3-way pickup switch and 3-way neck selector switch, this guitar can produce an immense variety of sounds (with the capability to play both necks at once!!!).  In addition to the Heritage Cherry finish made famous by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, the 1275 also is available in white (with gold hardware), tobacco burst (in the 70s) and ebony (with gold or chrome hardware).  The 1275 was not produced for much of the 80s and 90s, but it now available through the Gibson Custom shop and is no longer a production model.  Epiphone (a lower-cost subsidiary of Gibson) has released a set-neck and an even cheaper bolt on neck design and is named the G-1275.
