Martin DX1R

$719.00 Released January, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Black Micarta fingerboard looks and feels like Ebony - uncommon feature for this price point. Unibody design promotes resonance and natural sound output - lacks binding, purfing and other types of ornamentation. Truly "natural" wood aesthetic - lacks aging toners, matte films and other finish types.

The Cons:Not a solid body guitar - laminate siding may result in unwanted tone "coloration". Action may possess slight inconsistencies - string/neck proximity can feel somewhat unnatural.

The Martin DX1R is a six-string acoustic guitar that's a high-end model because it's designed with class and constructed out of durable materials that improve sound and quality. With a 14-fret body style, the guitar has a solid Sitka spruce top, a solid Indian Rosewood Pattern HPL headplate and Indian Rosewood Pattern HPL Textured Finish back and sides.

Rory KW: #martin_dx1r Had this guitar for a little under two years now and it is amazing. I managed to get it for about $850 but it sounded about the same as the $1,200+ Martins that I was playing prior to picking this one up.

The solid spruce top feels and smells (strange, I know) amazing and the neck and fretboard feel great. The strings that come on it are top-of-the-line, too (I've actually yet to replace them and they still sound pretty good... something that's just unheard of).

It's relatively cheap but it makes me sound like Neil Young... It's perfect. Nov 16, 10
