Rane MP 2016S

$600.00 Released February, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Durably constructed, will last a good decade at least. Layout makes everything easy to work with, good design. Simple enough to have guest DJs in without giving them instructions.

The Rane MP 2016S is a mid-priced mixer. This is a rotary controlled mixer, meaning it is fine-tuned by means of controls and pots rather than faders. This mixer is for sound control, as opposed to DJing.

There are six input channels on the MP 2016S. The first four channels feature RIAA phono preamplifiers, which help to boost the sound and work easily with effects. The last two channels of the MP 2016S are made especially for mics, and have preamps with gain trim (which keeps the sound clean when you want it), mic/line switch, and two band EQ for fine tuning. All six of the input channels have a gain control that helps you to match levels, and all six of the channels can select any one of the five auxiliary inputs. The headphone amplifier of the MP 2016S allows you to monitor the Master mix as well as the Cue mix. The signal/overload indicators for each channel will let you know visually when a channel's volume is peaking. The XP 2016S Expander, which provides more control over fine-tuning your tone and levels, is available as an optional add-on.
