Sennheiser e 838

The Sennheiser e 838 is a vocal microphone designed to filter out ambient on-stage audio. The rugged metal body is designed in such a way that handling noise does not get picked up, and the shock-mounted capsule absorbs accidental impacts.

The cardioid pickup pattern focuses on the subject, and active suppression of sounds outside of that pickup angle keep the signal clear. Feedback rejection is built in, and a humbucking coil cuts electrical interference. The frequency response of 40 Hz to 17,000 Hz supports the vocal range well, and is also appropriate for acoustic guitars and a number of other instruments.
