Sennheiser MKH 800 TWIN

The Sennheiser MKH 800 TWIN is built to be a universal microphone for studio work. Frequency response begins at 30 Hz and ranges up to 50,000 Hz, making the microphone useful for almost any instrument and for vocal work.

It uses a dual capsule of two symmetrical push-pull transducers with high linearity, which means minimal signal distortions and a strong signal. The transducers each send a separate signal, allowing the individual pick-up patterns to be adjusted and mixed together individually. This design creates two cardioid pick-up patterns, which can be selected remotely for various effects. While the microphone is highly sensitive, SPLs of up to 134 dB are possible. The strong signal created resists interference, reducing the need for additional filters.
