A symmetrical transducer is used with 2 backplates to reduce the distortion to a minimum, and the design of the microphone has low inherent self-noise. High sound pressure levels of up to 142 dB are possible, enabling it to be used as a spot microphone mounted close to a specific subject. An XLR module can be added or removed as needed, as well as a windshield for outdoor recordings.
