The durable wire mesh grille and wind and pop filter have made it a successful live vocal mic owing to it's ruggedness and tour worthy durability. Although shipped connected for low-impedance operation, it is user switchable to dual impedance as well which increases the output level. This makes it compatible with a broader range of mic preamps which are usually suited for either high or low output microphones. For example, a vintage tube mic preamp would require a higher signal coming into it in order to be effective. Usually this is used as a vocal mic but may also be used in lectures and public speaking as well.
