Shure SM58
$120.00
Released January, 1966
The Pros:The industry standard stage vocal mic. Extremely durable, long-lived and well served with spares. Not overly expensive.
The Shure SM58 is an industry-leading dynamic cardioid microphone, used mainly for live vocal applications. It excels at capturing great vocals on stage, and can put up with nearly any abuse. It sounds almost exactly like Shure's SM57, although the SM58 features a built-in windscreen and shockmount.

This means it can be used in a pinch in any number of additional applications, including guitar amps and percussion.
The standard SM58 uses a standard XLR connection, and features no on/off switch. There also exists a wireless version, and a wired version (SM58S) with an on/off switch. Its affordable price and industry-leading performance and durability make it an ideal purchase.

Well supported by Shure. I had a 20 year old veteran unit that needed repair and Shure offered a great new for old deal on it that was comparable with the repair price.
