Additional connectivity can be made via a front-mounted USB port, making for quick access to external instruments, controllers, effectors and more. An isolator light strip has been added to each of the device's four channels for on-the-go level control via dedicated low, medium and high-frequency knobs as well as an individual "Trim" volume control. The included "ALPS" crossfader can be assigned to each individual channel in addition to the master channel for interactive mixing, with an optional upgrade to the CF-PCV conductive fader available through Vestax's website. Fader parameters can also be adjusted to the tendencies of a given DJ, from smoother responses for long mixes to short and interceptive responses for a more rhythmic and experimental mix. A rotary-style monitor switch is included for quick and easy stereo adjustment, with headphone auditioning capabilities allowing users to check their output signal and practice an upcoming song transition. The 004XLu also features reinforced jacks and terminals for long-lasting durability, and a removable rack angle unit that allows the device to function as an in-house mixer within a 19-inch rack enclosure.
